The Environment Section has responsibility for environmental protection throughout North Tipperary. This includes the enforcement of all environmental legislation in the area of Waste Management, in conjunction with the EPA. As well as ensuring compliance with waste legislation, the Council provides waste and recycling infrastructure. It is also provides advice on good waste management practice and organises ongoing environmental awareness campaigns.
The Midlands Regional Waste Management Plan was adopted in early 2006 by the five Midlands Local Authorities - North Tipperary, Laois, Longford, Offaly and Westmeath County Councils. It sets out challenging targets for businesses and households in terms of reducing, reusing, recycling and Waste Disposal over the next five years.
