Higher Education Grants

How to Apply?

Who can apply?

Candidates who are entering an approved course for the first time in the 2011/2012 academic year.

Mature candidates who in the 2011/2012 academic year are entering in order to complete an approved course at undergraduate level for the first time or re-entering in order to pursue or complete an approved course at postgraduate level for the first time or already hold a postgraduate qualification and are re-entering to progress to a further postgraduate course which represents progression.  In order to be considered as a mature student, you need to be at least 23 years of age on 1st January of the year of entry or re-entry to an approved course.

Candidates who have attended but not successfully completed an approved course, are returning following a break in their studies of at least 5 years in order to pursue an approved course at the same level in the 2011/2012 academic year.

Where 2 or more children are pursuing a course of study listed from the scheme, the reckonable income limits for Full Maintenance and Full Fees (100%) and Part Fees (50%) may be increased by €4980 and where there are two such children, €9,960 where there are 3 such children and so on by increments of €4980.

For the Part Maintenance and Full Fees at 75%, 50% and 25% the reckonable income limits may be increased by €4,815.00 where there are 2 such children, €9,630 where there are 3 such children and so on, by increments of €4,815
