TAXATION OF PRIVATE VEHICLES
For first taxing of a new or imported car you need :
- Application Form RF100 (From Garage if new, or Revenue
Commissioners if imported)
- Appropriate Fee
To renew motor taxation when there is no break in tax you need :

To renew tax where a re-declaration is necessary (e.g. change of address,
change of class, change of engine) you need
- Completed Declaration Form RF111
- Registration Book/Vehicle Licensing Certificate or Vehicle

class)

TAXATION OF GOODS/COMMERCIAL VEHICLES
Heavy goods > 3500kgs Design Gross Vehicle Weight.
Light goods <= 3500kgs Design Gross Vehicle Weight
For first taxation of
a goods vehicle in your name
you need :
- Completed Application Form RF100 (From Garage if new, or
from Revenue Commissioners if imported)
- Weight docket from authorised weigh-bridge
- Goods declaration form
- A current Certificate of Road Worthiness is required for goods vehicles registered for one year or more or a Pass Statement signed on the reverse with fee of €6 for Light Goods Vehicle or €13 for Heavy Goods Vehicle.
- Certificate of Insurance covering commercial use
- Documentation from Revenue Commissioners (not more than 1 year old) to prove that you are registered as a sole trader or a business
To renew motor taxation on a goods vehicle currently taxed in your name, you need :
- Completed application form, i.e. Reminder RF100B or Tax
Renewal Form RF100A
- Appropriate Fee

CHANGE OF OWNERSHIP
Vehicles registered since
01/01/1993 :
- Vehicle Licensing
Certificate/Vehicle Registration Certificate completed by buyer and seller
on reverse.
- Send to Department of Transport,
Shannon, Co. Clare for processing
Vehicles registered before 1993
To renew tax after a change of ownership is
processed you need:
- Completed Form RF100A (Tax
Renewal)
- Appropriate Fee
- Refer to taxation procedures
above.
Vehicle Registration
Registration of vehicles and Vehicle Registration Tax (VRT) are dealt

Replacement
Documents
If you have misplaced any of the following documents, Form RF134* must
be completed and witnessed by a member of the Garda Siochana at your local
Garda Station. We can only accept applications for replacement documents from
the registered owner of the vehicle at the time of application.
